Branding a bold new vision for Belfast where ambition, architecture, and community connect

The Waterside redevelopment aimed to transform the former Sirocco Engineering Works site into a vibrant riverside hub. By reconnecting east and west Belfast with striking architecture and a new pedestrian bridge, the project set out to create a modern community space featuring amenities like a large outdoor amphitheatre.
The client needed a visual identity that could capture this ambition and convey a sense of unity. We developed a brand mark using two overlapping circles to symbolize strength and connection, combined with a flowing line resembling an infinite loop to represent the continuous flow of the river. The circles were capped with right angles to evoke the new structures rising on both sides, linked by the bridge. The overall design subtly suggests a handshake, reinforcing the theme of connection and collaboration.
The resulting identity is rooted in movement and momentum, reflecting the project’s architectural boldness and its role in bringing communities together along the river.
